A Community Co-operative was established in March 2004; local people now own and operate Uig Community Shop\u00a0<\/b>which is linked to the Scottish Co-op; great range of groceries fresh fruit and vegetables etc. Diesel and Petrol also available. Usual opening hours 10am – 5pm. Not open on Sunday. Don’t bother stocking up in Stornoway – support your\u00a0local shop!\u00a0Newly extended for 2008!<\/p>

Usually held on the first Saturday of July, this is a fantastic day out for all the family.\u00a0 All the usual attractions plus some that have only be thought up by people of a strange disposition during long dark winter nights, such as the world famous ‘Sheep Race’ including a man in a sheepdog costume. You need to be there. The event was suspended in 2024 but hopefully will return in some format in 2025.<\/p>

In 2013 a beautiful memorial to the exploits of the men of Reef who opposed the land grab of the 19th century was built. The landowners forcibly removed the rightful tenants from the land and these brave men resisted this opression. Follow the link below for more information – well worth a visit!<\/p>
